about

This one is a kind of letter to my brain. An acknowledgement that maybe separating yourself from your thoughts can be a good thing. Going back over things you said or did and over analysing is of no benefit to your happiness, and whatever happened, well maybe it was meant to happen. The second half of the second verse might confuse people as I switch from directing ‘you’ to my mind, over to talking of a ‘we’ that I guess could be you and your soul, or you and a loved one. “If we’re quiet enough then we might not wake it” refers to leaving the mind to sleep while you let your soul take you wherever it naturally needs to go. The mind has become an ‘it’ and that really aids in seeing it’s often very harming thoughts as objects we can brush off when they try and attack us.

lyrics

I’ve been grinding my gears for a while
What are we like?
If I could take my head off my shoulders I'd sit it right at the bottom of the stairs.
Overthinking every little move.
Don't know why I care.

Ooooh, i’m better off, if my thoughts just keep their distance,
Ooooh, you don’t know me but go on be persistent.

Have you seen my mind?
its always wandering ahead of where I'm stood
But I think that's good
I think that's good
Have you seen my mouth?
I only have to speak and words just run away.
But that's ok, I'd rather not find them anyway

I know we're born with a sense of humour,
But cut it out cos I'm all grown up and this is child's play,
If we're quiet enough then we might not wake it
We've got the whole day and I wouldn't mind losing my way

I wanna run away with you
So let me be myself with you
